Katherine Heigl is open about her childhood in "a the white bubble." She also explains how this experience has affected her parenting of adopted children that are multiracial. In an interview, she said in the past that in terms of the color of her skin there is no difference. After speaking with her sister, who was adopted from South Korea she realized just how differently society treats them. I wanted to know Meg whether, while out with her parents, she got a particular treatment and when out alone, she got a completely different kind of treatment. She said, 'Oh, yeah, all the time!' Heigl told parents: "That was when I was aware of how foolish I had made me feel." According to the actor, she became angered. But, she was determined to channel her anger into helping her adopted girls. Heigl has a four-year old son and a 13-year-old spouse, Josh Kelley. In 2009, they welcomed Nancy Leigh (12), one of their daughters from South Korea, and Adalaide (8 an African-American child) in the year 2012.
